Scholastic Guided Reading is a classroom reading program designed to help students become better, more independent young readers. Since there are thousands of texts in the program, the new website for Guided Reading needed to be simplified and a new, modern user experience created to effectively present the product offerings and program benefits.
The navigation was simplified and condensed into a new supermenu with three major sections and a clear pathway to purchase.
Instead of clicking through to a number of sections, product summaries were pushed front and center to give quick access to information about each program right from the home page with a path to a comprehensive product page.
Previously, program levels were broken out across multiple pages with no way for the user to drill down to a specific level. In the redesign, functionality was implemented which allowed the user to view all levels on a single page, or sort particular levels or grades via a submenu.
Since this page receives the most web traffic, we saw this as an opportunity to simplify and enhance it visually. We reduced the number of columns and improved legibility.
By utilizing two columns and larger form fields, we contemporized the forms and made it easier to input data fields.
